'El Taarn' - Artist Homer Ellertson's 'castle' in Tryon, NC

‘El Taarn’ is one of Tryon N.C.’s grand, historic homes. Designed in 1923 by collectible artist Homer Ellertson (1892-1935) to be his studio home and a work of art in itself. Three stories tall, built on a narrow mountain spur. El Taarn’s most noticeable feature is its polygonal tower with Tudor, copper doors, and interior and exterior winding staircases. Semi-formal, private gardens, rock-lined paths, all nestled on wooded acres.
